Abstract

The use of the Project Based Learning model stems from the challenges of conventional learning processes, which are often ineffective in enhancing students' active engagement and deep understanding. Traditional learning tends to focus on one-way teaching methods that emphasize memorization and understanding of material. In this context, the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model emerges as an approach that focuses on providing learning experiences through projects designed to solve problems. The main factor of success in learning is the accuracy of the use of learning models. The purpose of this research is to see whether there is an effectiveness of the application of Project Based Learning (PjBL) learning model in IPAS subject in improving the understanding of fourth grade students of SD Krapyak Wetan. This research used quasi experiment with 25 students of class IV A as experimental class using Project Based Learning (PjBL) learning model and 25 students of class IV B as control class using conventional learning model. The data collection instrument was in the form of pretest and posttest question sheets. The findings of this study are an increase in the understanding of the concept of IPAS material by using the Project Based Learning (PjBL) learning model. The data obtained were normally distributed and homogeneous. The results of the T-test using the Independent Sample T-test with a value of 0.000 <0.05 then Ho is rejected which shows that there is a difference in increasing the understanding of the concept of IPAS material. The increased understanding of the concept of IPAS material in class IVA by utilizing the Project Based Learning model has been proven, with the initial measurement results of 60.8 increasing to 90.4 with an increase of 30%. So the Project Based Learning learning model has a significant effect and can be used as an alternative learning model for grade IV students.
