Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of learning methods Outdoor Study in Improving Understanding of Natural and Social Science Concepts for Fourth Grade at Muhammadiyah Banyuraden Elementary School.This research was carried out at the Muhammadiyah Banyuraden Elementary School for the 2023/2024 academic year. This research is experimental research with a design design Noneqivalent Control Group Design. This design involves two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. In this case, the researcher used two classes as samples. The sample consisted of fourth grade A and fourth grade B. Cognitive ability was measured using pretest and posttest. The analysis technique used is the normality test, homogeneity test, independent sample t-test with a significance level of <0.05.The results of this study concluded based on the results of the N-gain Score Test, showing that the average N-gain score for the experimental class (using the outdoor study learning method) was 0.6349, included in the "Medium" category or included in the quite effective category. Meanwhile, the average N-gain score for the control class (using the demonstration learning method) was 0.4034, which was in the "Medium" category or was in the ineffective category. So it can be concluded that the use of the outdoor study learning method is quite effective in improving learning outcomes in the science and sciences subject material on plant parts and their functions for fourth grade students at Banyuraden Muhammadiyah Elementary School for the 2023/2024 academic year.
