Abstract

The impetus for this study was the observation that students demonstrated limited comprehension of solar system material, a phenomenon attributable to the constraints imposed by interactive and contextual learning media. The objective of this study was to examine the impact of augmented reality-based learning media on the conceptual understanding of grade VI elementary school students. The methodology employed was a quasi-experimental design, incorporating a pretest-posttest group configuration, with a sample size of 36 students. The instruments employed in this study, which included pretest and posttest tests, were subjected to rigorous analysis using various statistical methods. These methods included the assessment of normality, the implementation of a paired sample t-test, the calculation of correlation coefficients, and the determination of N-Gain. The results indicated a substantial increase in the mean score from 61.20 (pretest) to 83.06 (posttest), with a p-value less than 0.05, indicating statistical significance. The mean N-Gain value of 0.547 falls within the medium category. This finding indicates that augmented reality effectively enhances students' conceptual understanding of solar system material. Consequently, the integration of these media in the elementary school curriculum, particularly for subjects that necessitate high visualization, such as the solar system, is a commendable initiative.
