This study is motivated by the low mathematical problem solving ability of elementary school students which is a challenge in learning mathematics. The purpose of the study was to describe the application of Project-Based Learning (PBL) in improving elementary school students' mathematical problem solving skills. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. The research subjects were first grade students of TirtaMarta BPK Penabur Cinere Elementary School in one of the elementary schools in Depok. Data were collected through observation, interview, and documentation. In the learning process, PBL is applied by actively involving students in designing, working on, and completing projects relevant to mathematics material, thus encouraging engagement, collaboration, and the development of critical thinking skills. The results showed that through PBL, students experienced a significant increase in mathematical problem solving skills, seen from the increase in learning activeness, analytical skills, and creativity in solving problems. In addition, PBL also increases students' motivation and sense of responsibility for learning. The research conclusion confirms that project-based learning is an effective strategy to improve elementary students' mathematical problem solving ability by creating a dynamic and meaningful learning environment, as well as developing higher order thinking skills and collaboration among students. Therefore, PBL is recommended as a learning model that can be widely implemented in elementary schools to improve the quality of mathematics learning.
